    INDUCTION, CULTURE & FINANCIAL LITERACY

PROGRAMME FOCUS: Working with the intake of over 170 young people into the 2-year Kinetic Academy programme we provide workshops which cover the expectations of Kinetic students and the opportunities they will be offered through the Kinetic futures programme. This is followed by a financial literacy and personal budgeting workshop.

OUTCOME: We set expectation for attendance at school, football training and Kinetic futures workshops. Young people will understand what is expected of their behaviour, attendance and commitment. Financial literacy is designed to teach Kinetic students the basics of managing money so they can make smart financial choices.

  • SPRING TERM

    CRITICAL THINKING & PRESENTATION SKILLS

PROGRAMME FOCUS: This term includes two workshops across our school sites covering critical thinking and presentation skills. These are complemented by two corporate trips, one a networking opportunity and the second an opportunity to debate a topic linked to football - for example the use of VAR. A corporate judging panel will ask questions and debate with students.

OUTCOMES: The work during this term will build cognitive skills through understanding approaches to critical thinking. It will also be an opportunity to build social capital through networking with corporate partner employees and practice public speaking.

  • SUMMER TERM

    BUSINESS OF SPORT

PROGRAMME FOCUS: Using the ‘hook’ of sport students will be provided with one workshop based around building their own sporting company and exploring the jobs roles which make up an organisation, e.g. commercial, data, marketing, finance, operations and senior management. This will be followed by a panel event hearing from sports professionals in various roles.

OUTCOMES: Through using sport, this will be an opportunity for Kinetic students to explore careers and broaden their knowledge to think about career paths outside playing sport. The panel event will be an opportunity to hear from professionals in different roles connected to sport and network to embed the learning.
