Trips to Ipswich and Reading finalise U18 preseason preparation

An excellent August has seen our U18s make a flying start to the 2017/18 campaign.After winning 7 out of 7 matches this preseason, our annual fixtures against Ipswich and Reading saw us go into our Academy fixtures in great form.Could our current U18 squad follow in the footsteps of Myles Kenlock, Stephane Bombelenga, Omar Richards and Kolade Salaudeen in making the step up to Academy life?Travelling North off of the back of beating Sutton United, Farnborough and Worthing, the Academy fixtures proved to be a huge test for our talented squad.The boys showed that they could compete with top Category 1 and 2 sides and Princewill Ogunmekan has been offered a contract at Ipswich to be finalised in the coming weeks. The players and staff wish him all the best in his new challenge."He is an incredible talent and deserves this chance" said Head of Coaching, Calum McFarlane.McFarlane aims to take his U18 side one step further in this season's FA Youth Cup after the 2016-17 campaign saw the side fall short to League 2 side Yeovil Town.
