Seventeen year old Josh Maja, originally from London, replaced Joel Asoro in the 68th minute of Sunderland’s EFL cup third round tie against QPR on the 21st of September.Sunderland managed to overturn QPR in a close game at Loftus Road Stadium, winning 2-1 from a 1-0 deficit with two goals in the 70th and 80th minute from Paddy McNair.Josh’s talent has not gone without notice and has been described as ‘one of the best talents as premier league clubs’ – The Guardian. The day after Sunderland’s victory, Maja tweeted;“21/09/16 A day I’ll never forget making my senior debut for @SunderlandAFC in the #eflcup great to get the win too!” https://twitter.com/J_Maj10Maja, who grew up in Pimlico, became involved with Kinetic Foundation at the age of 13. Despite having previously struggled in school, Josh always showed high degrees of natural football playing ability and a passion for sport. The coaches at Kinetic quickly picked up on his natural abilities and worked hard with him to culture his raw talent by providing free high quality training sessions, which constructively moulded Josh in to an exceptionally talented young footballer resulting in Josh signing with Sunderland AFC in the summer of 2015 on a four year deal (LINK).With impressive performances in academy fixtures, including an impressive win over Manchester United, which featured an audacious assist from Josh, he continued to impress the senior team staff, leading to his opportunity to debut in the senior squad’s victory last week.Kinetic Foundation continue their hard work in their local community to reach out to youngsters like Josh striving to improve quality of life, employability and sporting capabilities focusing not only on performance but also having an equal emphasis on academic studies. While providing community sessions, Part time and Full time academies, as well as the recent formation of under 10, under 14 and under 16 teams competing in the Tandridge youth football league, Kinetic are always looking for further ways to grow as a charity and aid an increasing number of young people in London.Kinetic Foundation is extremely proud to be a part of Josh Maja’s journey and wish him only the best in his bright future.
