Kinetic Academy 2-1 Reading FC
A strong Kinetic U19's made the journey down to Reading FC's training ground to take on the Reading Youth Team. We arrived being welcomed by great Reading staff and their wonderful facilities. We could feel good energy in the air after a brilliant tactical team talk by Kinetic manager Callum McFarllen. After a positive warm up, with spirits and confidence high, Kinetic had a very fast start to the game. Within the first 2 minutes, Kinetic midfielder Michael Hill had a great effort at goal, with a first time shot curling past the keeper but unfortunately couldn't beat the cross bar. We were defensively organised and prepared for what Reading could offer, whilst very effective in transition on the attacking front. Although Kinetic proved to be effective going forward and dominating play, we struggled to take well created chances, which gave the opposition hope. In the 16th minute, Reading had one of their first attacks in our box and it resulted in a goal. We were 1-0 down with over 70 minutes to go; we definitely had time to push more and salvage a result. In the 20th minute it looked as though it was our moment to equalise, with a well struck free kick being saved by the keeper, and an even better gather to stop Kinetic capitalising on the rebound. In the 29th minute we were unable to capitalise on another chance, however this then resulted in us receiving a penalty. Up steps Daniel Hector who slots it in the top right hand corner. With an equaliser before half time, the performance only improved, with more chances being created, but not being taken. Due to a secure defence, there was no threat of being punished for not taking these opportunities.Coming out from half time, there were no big chances from either team until we got a free-kick at the edge of the box. Daniel Hector steps up again; with left footed curler from the right hand side of the box, he bends the ball around the ball and beat the keeper at his near post. Now 2-1 up it seemed like we were in complete control. But just 3 minutes after scoring and taking the lead, Reading came close to equalising by hitting the post from 6 yards out and the ball trickling across the line!! At the 65 minute mark Kinetic come close to scoring again, with midfielder Bradley Wilson breaking forward and with a shot just inside the keepers area, the keeper manages to push the ball on the bar, only giving Kinetic a corner. From there on in, the game was dominated by Kinetic, expressing ourselves on the ball, enjoying being in possession we created many more chances but were unable to capitalise.Seeing the game out with a 2-1 victory, Kinetic staff and players were both impressed and happy with not only the victory, but more importantly the manner in which it came. With everyone play who featured in the game came a good performance, well done to a few stand out players such as Daniel Hector, bagging both goals, Michael Hill, Luke Tan and Lewis White!!!
