Develop Habits, Don't Make Resolutions.

Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed the festive period and have made and broken a few New Year's resolutions. I will give you some helpful tips on achieving your goals later on. As many of you I am sure have made some new resolutions I want to advise you on how to achieve them. For any resolution or goal you wish to achieve you must develop a habit whereby the side effect is the achievement of your goals. For weight loss developing habits like healthy eating 90% of the time, excercising regularly, or simply just drinking more water will bring you closer to this goal. A healthy lifestyle will lead to weight loss and not necessarily the other way round for example crash dieting, exclusion diets or high calorie restriction will not lead to long term health. I personally think a 12 month resolution is far too long to be achievable. Your goals must be long term based but it is far more realistic to break your goals down into manageable bitesize chunks and make yourself accountable by telling a partner or friend, make it public on social media or tell me. By making yourself accountable for your goal or lifestyle change it is more likely to be achieved. Focus and streamline your goals. If you have multiple goals you will always focus on the one that is easiest to complete, so make sure you limit the amount of goals you set yourself and focus on the tough stuff as it will be the most rewarding. I hope this doesn't change anybody's New Year's resolutions but focuses you on the important ones and give you the tools to plan for success. I know 2015 is going to be a great year for Bear Drills Fitness and I hope you will join in fun. P.s. If you wanted to join the Bear Drills Fitness team, then classes run on a Monday and Thursday. The first Metafit of the year is today at 7:30pm and my personnel favourite class, Bear Drills, is on this Thursday at 7-8pm both at Dulwich Constituional Hall - I hope to see as many of you there as possible. All the best Tom www.bear-drills.comFacebook: bear drills fitnessInstagram: bear_drillsTwitter: @bear_drills
